Chicagoans will vote for college board members for the primary time in November.

Beginning Jan. 15, Chicago’s Board of Schooling will go from seven members appointed by the mayor to a 21-member board with 10 elected members and 11 appointed by Mayor Brandon Johnson. This would be the first step towards transitioning to a totally elected board by 2027.

Chicago is split into 10 districts for the 2024 election. Every district has roughly 275,000 residents.
